Outlook Express has for many years been the leading application for sending and receiving e-mails. This is not only due to a good functionality, but also due to the muscle of Microsoft. Thunderbird is one of those programs which can compete with MS Outlook Express, not only because it has similar functionality, but it's also in Tidy eyes more user/business friendly. Lets not forget it is also freeware and is very easy to use. Thunderbird continues to lead the way in online security, and now includes active protection from online scams to keep you safer.

Replying to your emails

One of the quirks we noticed was by default it positions your reply at the bottom of the screen when replying to an e-mail instead of at the top.

Replying at the bottom of an e-mail is not an acceptable in todays world. After a brief Google search I found the solution to setting the reply position on e-mails to the top instead of the bottom. How to Fix it?

·  Go to 'Account Settings'
·  Select 'Composition & Addressing' for the account in question
·  Check the checkbox in the Composition group that says 'Automatically quote the original message when replying'.
·  Once the combo box below is enabled select the option 'Start my reply above the quote'

Create your own SPAM Filter

One of the best features about Thunderbird is the spam (junk) mail filter. Thunderbird has a built-in filter which can be adjusted and tuned in for your own pleasure. You may need to spend a week or two training it what's spam and what's not spam, but once it is perfected the time it saves you is amazing!

After opening each junk mail select in the top left of the screen 'Message' then 'Create Filter from Message' then 'Perform these actions' and 'Delete from POP Server' This after a while works wonders, why not try it out?

How to attach your signatures

Open your notepad or any other text editing program, it's up to you what you want in your signature, however, Tidy Design would suggest you add your name and also a link to you Tidy Website! Next save your signature as a text file wherever you like.

Open your Thunderbird then go to 'Tools' and 'Settings'... Next Check the box which says 'Attach this signature' and then 'Browse' to locate the file you just created (Example: sugnature.txt) Your tidy signature is then added to the bottom of each message you send.
